Here goes..
When I began blogging again in February 2025 using Boomer in my handle. ( ‘ Handle’ do people even use that expression anymore? lol) I knew from the off I was very aware it would limit an audience. Transparency and authenticity are important to me, so I decided to go for it.
Some ladies of my age came forward. Engaged with me and subscribed. I sincerely thank you as it gave me the conviction to continue with my thoughts, to unpack a life and put some things to rest.
Then I got sidelined by the Daily Prompt, which wasn’t such a bad thing. It did what it said on the tin. It gave me a direction, each day I was given stuff to think and write about. Thank you, DP. I will never diss you. You got me up and running.
I appear to have digressed somewhat. The rant……..

What I am struggling with is how the younger generations are spewing out content day after day in online articles. It seems to be constant now how Boomers should live their lives. What we should and shouldn’t wear, which items in our homes they dislike ( because they are old fashioned, duh) even the language and phrases we use. The audacity to chat about times gone by.
What I’d like to say is ‘ Hey pal, you may or not have a long stretch of future ahead, but we do have a rich past to look back on. You’d be so lucky’. You guys didn’t invent festivals. Have you never heard of Woodstock, Isle of Wight, Knebworth, Blackbushe?
We have lived through decades of changing fashions; our clothes, make up, music it was ongoing and constantly changing. It was loud, it was exciting, city nightlife was vibrant.
I do not understand what I choose to have in my home, what I wear, and what language I choose to use is open for dissection and ridicule by someone whom has yet a life to live, a person of little experience in the world.
An enlightened youngster was heard to say recently,’ I am me’. It is a pleasure to know you, LJ. Somewhere get it.Some don’t.
What really makes me cross is the thought of them getting paid for their hollow opinions. For what amounts to being rude, don’t you think?
This has been a long post, but if you have read thus far, I thank you. Do say something in the comment box; whatever age you are and how you feel about the intergenerational differences that cause friction.
To all Baby Boomerd, Generation X, Millenials, Gen Z, ( Generation Alpha, not yet, obvs) listen up…
