In plain sight

What’s one thing you know now that would have saved your younger self a lot of pain?

We have been asked this several times. Is it our being human, which entices AI to ask us this  over again. Because yes, they have superpowers ( like a mate that knows everything,  without being a ‘ know it all’), but they just can’t get the human touch? The thing that drives us. Those layers of conditioning, learning, experiences, and emotions they will never feel to the core.

Working my way through Reader this morning was fascinating, and probably if Patch hadn’t wanted to get up n go, I’d still be there now. Devouring your blog posts for today’s DP. What could have saved us from pain?

Replying in the past, I’ve always said I would warn myself younger self that many people, incidents, and situations are not what they seem. To keep a step back and watch and listen before jumping in, as the story line you’re going with is misleading. There’s more to it, twists and turns and manipulations and hidden agendas you would be forgiven for not realising at the time, were present.

Considering we are all so very different in ages, creeds, cultures, and the like, we are all here together as  part of this lovely community. Writers one and all.

Today, what has become abundantly clear is how similar the blog posts have been. What has caused us all so much pain? And what words from our older self could have saved us some of it?

The answer seems to be other people. Folk who were supposed to love and support us. Those who professed to care for us. Those we believed did- but didn’t.

Masks, sliding doors, smoke and mirrors. We may have suffered less without the others, they who come into your life, mess with your head, and leave you wounded.

One post I read ( I forget who wrote it)  said about giving someone a second chance when they hadn’t deserved the first.

I know it doesn’t resonate with you all, but David Bowie saying that the best thing about getting older is becoming the person you were always meant to be. I get that.

Maybe he means being swept along paths, you may not have ventured down? Accidently caught in a net, which was hard to get out of? Trapped in situations without a key to the door? All those alter ego’s he had, all the changes and reinventions, until he finally became the man he always was?

The man was a genuis.

RIP David Bowie
