How do you plan the perfect road trip?

Thesedays WP I just do the one 600 mile round trip to Cornwall in the South West coast of the UK, whenever I can.

Having the car in good working order and getting Patch’s things together take priority. I have the all singing and dancing RAC cover so as not to worry about breaking down. It’s costly, but hey! It takes away any stress about that.

You have to think about the four seasons in one day, England has going on when you’re packing. I invariably get it wrong!

With the car packed off we go, with water and snacks up front for us both. Stops when His Nibs gets restless. Sometimes music, sometimes not. And that’s us.

I will be driving slower/taking longer to reach our Shepherd’s Hut, as petrol prices dictate that now…

What place in the world do you never want to visit? Why?

The thing is, WP, there are plenty of undesirable places on Earth – totally ruined by humans, of course. Lots of beautiful countries have been destroyed and their people fled. It is a sad state of affairs. Just a handful of men could affect so many in such devastating ways. Criminal.

So I shall just choose one that didn’t do it for me when I visited. Norway, the limited biodiversity bored me senseless – and that is coming from someone who never gets bored.

The company wasn’t much better 😂

If you won two free plane tickets, where would you go?

Three lots of first-class plane tickets and five star accommodation? Wow. That is a wonderful prize to win. Thank you so much!! 

Leaving aside the fact my mom has passed, I’m thinking she would enjoy a holiday in Antigua 🇦🇬 or Barbados 🇧🇧. Somewhere sunny and gorgeous.

With the next pair of tickets I would like to fly a very special person to me up to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to an area of her choice. For many years, she, her husband, and their dogs would take fishing holiday’s up there. They loved the wildlife and the space.

Last but not least, i would use these tickets to take my buddy from Cornwall to Chennai 🇮🇳 I am sure she would enjoy the India experience.

What place in the world do you never want to visit? Why?

There are 195 countries, deciding on one not to visit was initially difficult. Until I gave up, with 76 ‘so far’ on the list.

I’m not adverse to overseas travel. There have been good times had in lots of different places, over the years. But that was then.

Please do not take it personally if you are from any of the following. Yesterday I gained a new subscriber ( thank you BMA) and I hope I don’t lose them because of what I’m about to say ….

Human and animal rights, or the lack of them. The terrain or simply the place creeps me out, I cite as the reasons behind my call. Here goes …

China

Iran

Iraq

Israel

North Korea

USA

Afghanistan

South Sudan

Libya

Okay, I’ll stop there. You don’t really want me to go on, I know.

Sadly I would have to add Syria and Lebanon. Two countries I so wanted to visit before the powers-that-be trashed them.
