Oh no!
Was today typical?
I was about to write that it was a bit early to assess if today was typical as it has only just gone 7am.
However, WP has thrown me a curve ball and now I see the text is white on a black background. So no, today is not typical.
How hard can it be to reverse it? Simples eh? Err not so much.
I will revisit this post when I have it sorted…and have had a shower, taken Patch out for his morning constitutional, given him his breakfast, fed the birds, had my breakfast….
Edit…but when I come to view the content all seems well with the world and everything is back to normal.
Edit..Edit…All sorted!
Perhaps I won’t revisit to add content to this page ..As the day hasn’t been typical so far..and that’s what DP asked.
Oh, and it’s raining. That’s not typical of late. But hey that OK, I’m a Pluviophile 😆
Have a good day all x
Edit, edit, edit…. perhaps I’ll just bin the post altogether and start again in a while..

Snookered
So, here I am sitting on the sofa. All the windows and doors are open and July ’25 is nearing the end.
‘ Why is she telling us this?’ I hear you.
Fact is Patch has decided to take his morning nap early and is asleep on my arm. Obviously I am now unable to move. I can’t possibly get up and do the chores and disturb Himself. I can’t reach my coffee, going cold in the mug on my side table. But I do have a lifeline, my tablet.
I’ve completed the Daily Prompt, looked through Reader. Checked out posts by my favourites ( sorry, I know, we shouldn’t have favourites..but here we are). I’ve exercised some grey matter. Depressed myself reading through the Sky News app. Picked dog hairs off my top. Exercised my ankles. Wondered what I shall eat next and become concerned it may start raining and the washing I put out to dry a couple of hours ago is going to get wet. Oh yes, and i’ve relived our lovely walk this morning which revealed Autumn waiting in the wings. The blackberry bush was showing signs of a healthy crop to -be and the apples on the trees were looking good too..and that had me thinking about custard.
No, I will not open the door to Autumn just yet, but I know it’s there, waiting quietly for its turn. There is still some summer left to enjoy and hopefully on that note the breeze will blow away the clouds and there will be warmth enough in the sun to dry my clothes. Rock n roll. How exciting is my life, eh?
The postman disturbed said dog, so whilst he goes ballistic at the front door, I’m free to get up and get on with my day…Maybe a cup of fresh coffee is in order?
With a gentle hand
What would you change about modern society?
I would like to sprinkle fairy dust over our modern society to give everyone a break.
‘ Be kind, everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about’

The Whisper and the Roar
What bothers you and why?
‘ Bother’ in the English language can be used in several ways. Today, I’ll use it as a verb. A lightweight word. Being bothered by a mosquito or someone talking loudly on their device in a store or out in the street. Just a whisper of a nuisance.
But now I’m going to change the tempo somewhat, going from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds and write about outrage.
What outrages me and why? How long have you got? There are many things. If you’ve read any of my posts in the past, you may have learnt how most of the world’s leaders outrage me.

It’s Inequality that makes my blood boil. Makes me roar.
In August 2005 Huricanne Katrina hit New Orleans with winds up to 150 miles an hour. The carnage was immense.
At the time, George W. Bush, the President of the Untied States, was into a twenty-nine day holiday on his ranch in Texas. On his way back to Washington on Air Force One, he directed the pilot to fly over the devastation. So he could see. He had chosen not to visit.
The public perception of Bush and the administration was highly critical, and his political career never really recovered. He was seen as insensitive and neglectful of minorities and the less fortunate. A moral delay. Leadership without empathy.
Approximately 1392 died, half of those aged over 74. Over a million displaced.
Most of those who died were from low income areas. 67% being African Americans.
The flooded streets revealed submerged architecture of poor quality. 40% of the victims had drowned.
There is a lot more to be said about Huricanne Katrina and why inequality made the suffering so much worse, much more prolonged..
But this is simply a blog post about one major incident when inequality was the name of the game.. Inexcusable.
Adventure v Security
With time on my hands, I thought I’d have a sneaky look at the prompt for tomorrow.
They are asking about adventure v security.
I love reading what you guys have to say. We’re all so different. Good job, really .. How tiresome it would be if we all felt and experienced the same life?
Off the block, I’m thinking I’ve had enough adventure to last me a lifetime, and this very moment in time, security is sacred.
I may leave it at that. Who knows what tomorrow may bring?

I so welcome you guys dropping in and allowing us to have a chat, leaving your thoughts and comments.
Reflection
I just bumped into a neighbour who knew I’d been on hols for a few days. ‘ I bet it feels like you never went away, now’. She said.
I knew where she was coming from.. but it couldn’t have been further than the truth.
Those days, I felt deeply. The times I shared with such a lovely friend were the absolute best. The most glorious ( and most expensive risotto I’ve ever had in my life – which I was treated to) are not moments to dismiss when your other life kicks back in. In fact, we had three days of ladies who lunch, there was no way she’d let me pay. How amazing is that? To find an authentic soul who wishes to give you the best experience ever. I thank you, Milton.

We had a blast. In the UK, we would say we were ‘spoilt rotten’. But that may not translate well overseas. Take it from me it is a positive.
We are home now, and the heatwave here is more intense than down on the southwest coast. But hey, I’ll keep washing those dogs’ blankets and get the duvet aired daily as long as I can. In a few months’ time, I am sure I will complain that it’s getting a bit chilly. But hey, that’s what islanders do.
Holibobs… revisited
Yay! We had a safe drive down to Cornwall yesterday. A tad arduous, but hey, we got here in one piece.
The Patches was so excited to see our hosts as was I. So good to spend time with the oldest of friends.
It’s a bit of a blustery start to the day. The relief is immense. There’s only so much heatwave a UK citizen can take.
So , we’re settled into The Sheppy ( Shepherds Hut) and we slept like babies. So are good to go now. To the beach it is!
I’m going to post a very short video in a minute or two. You’ll need the volume up high if you want to listen to the moment we were welcomed to the day by a very jolly little bird. What a delight. Edit; Mmm, can’t load the vid. Will come back later to check that out. Pity, it was lovely.
I’ll revise this page and add some more pics later.
Till then have yourself a good day lovely peeps.

Oh, one last thing for now. Should you be a wannabe burglar and think to yourself ‘ she’s away from home, I’ll go and check out her crib’ think again. My neighbours on all sides and their dogs are badass. It would take a very brave and extremely stupid person to even try and get close. 😂

The story of my life
Do you know what ? I seem to have spent my whole life letting go for the sake of others. Boo hoo. Poor me. Let’s move on.

A Shepherds Hut for Us
Describe your most memorable vacation.
Having been lucky enough to have visited some truly amazing places across the world, there is one place I keep going back to, and that’s Cornwall.
This far southwest of England coastline is over 400 miles long. A wonderful mix of quaint fishing villages, rugged terrain, and sandy beaches. Touched by the English Chamnel to the south and the Atlantic and Celtic Sea to the west and north.

It’s here with Patch we’ll stay with friends of old. Genourously given a Shepherd’s Hut of our own to retreat to for times of rest.
Beach walks and swims for the dog, a little exploring, delightful lunches out and about and lazy chilled evenings in the garden as the sun goes down. Bliss.
