If you could switch lives with a famous person for a week, who would it be and why?
Around 1,000 children under the age of five die every day from diseases linked to unsafe water, poor sanitation and inadequate hygiene. ( UNICEF)

I came across that statistic this morning while thinking about today’s WordPress prompt:
Which famous person would you like to be for a week?
My answer was immediate.
Elon Musk.
I’d give all his money away.
Simple.
Except it isn’t.
My next question was, how much would it cost to provide clean water and sanitation for everyone?

Then I discovered that most of Elon Musk’s wealth isn’t sitting in a giant bank account. It’s tied up in companies, shares and valuations.
My day would begin with his banking apps open and several confused accountants on speed dial.
Suppose I managed to turn the shares into cash.
Problem solved?
Not quite.

You still need wells, pumps, pipes, treatment systems, engineers, spare parts, and local communities able to keep everything running long after the billionaire has gone home.

The more I thought about it, the less this became a story about one rich man saving the world.
Thousands of organisations are already working on the water crisis.

The challenge isn’t that nobody cares.
The challenge is scale.
I started the day thinking I’d be giving away Elon Musk’s money.
Instead, I ended up wondering how you turn wealth into lasting change.

The world has enough wealth. The problem is where it sleeps.

Many of you know I’m very much an animal welfare led kinda soul.
Animals/ wildlife need clean water, too.
