A dream job would be the one getting up in the morning and ready for work would be exciting..or at least easy, no slog.
Maybe it would showcase abilities, gifts, and passions. Childhood ambitions fullfilled.
Fullfilling, yes, that’s a good word, isn’t it, to describe a job that suits you perfectly? And there we go, another expression ‘ suits you’..The working environment and access to, the life work balance and rewards suit you.
Yep, a few ducks to get in a row there, but I’m guessing it begins with a passion?
If a publisher, editor scout, whomever believed my style of writing was worthy of payment, that would do it for me.
The initial knee-jerk reaction to the DP today was ‘to stay breathing‘. I left it there, wondering how I was going to fill the page. I honestly could think no further. Not often stuck for words, but hey.
Out about with Patch, early doors in nature soon got me thinking a bit more.
Then it became obvious,to keep showing up here each day to do my stuff and read yours.
It’s my happy place. Simple as.
Then out preparing the buffet Round Two for the birds and squirrels it came to mind that this weekend maybe I will unpack a box which has been sealed for some time, with previous writings, scribbles and thoughts, and see what lerks there. Yes! That would be a perfect mission.
It’s funny how being outdoors always kick starts a fruitful thought process.
Where do my fellow bloggers find inspiration? You guys certainly inspire me when my tank is momentarily empty. So thank you for that.
Maybe Francis de Sales – the patron saint of writers – has ushered me into the room, given me a quill and parchment, and shown me to a table and chair?
Or perhaps it is now the right time in my life to show up each day and put pen to paper?
Either way, I’m having a blast.
Somewhere deep in my soul, I’ve felt writing to be my vehicle of choice to express myself best. Innate, maybe?
So, WP the answer to today’s DP is… it makes me happy!
A few weeks back WP congratulated me on 16 years with them. I had no idea. Blogs have come and gone over the years, most of them deleted. Tomorrow though I will have reached a 200 day streak. So it looks like I may be here to stay this time. I thank you all who have joined me. I’m meeting some cool people here. Like minded souls trying to make sense of this world. Our world, as we see it.
As long as I can remember I have loved reading and writing. ( Sadly, at present reading books is taking a back seat) My first real story was when I was about 10..of course there is a story behind that too, which I will keep for another day.
But as Mae ( you maybe subscribed to her) has already said this morning it’s finding that one space, that’s yours. Free airspace not clouded by others. She’s right, with the stars aligned; time, space, place, a steady pace of life where writing just slips on in there like the most natural thing in the world.Allowing those thoughts and ideas to surface. No holds barred. Letting them out, leaving a less cluttered area in my head.
Im a bit dismayed many are using so much AI for their blogs ( I don’t fear AI at all. Quite the contrary I’m slightly in awe of it) It just feels we may be losing authenticity. Losing the voices with their own stories to tell. Heavens only knows how journalists the world over must feel as they see their craft disappear.
But that’s simply my humble opinion. There’s no stopping AI now.
Each morning I throw open the windows, doors and dusty cupboards in my head and see what can be made of our Daily Prompt..as natural as breathing.
List three books that have had an impact on you. Why?
These three books have stayed with me since first reading them a lifetime ago. They would make perfect companions to be reread, should the stranded on a desert island scenario ever occur.
The Prophet by Kalil Gibran ( 1883-1931) This Lebanese/American poet and writer had this work published in 1923. The twenty six philosophical essay/prose poems over twenty eight chapters tell of sprawling topics including life, love, freedom, humanity, pain and passion. A truly spiritual and inspirational read.
Experiments with the Truth, is the autobiography penned by the Indian and London educated lawyer known as Mahatma Gandhi ( 1869-1948). He writes of the successes and failures of non-violent resistance. Suffering hardships and imprisonment for his beliefs. Mr Gandhi who was assassinated in 1948. He never forgot the principles of truth.
A Thousand Years of Solitude was penned by Colombian writer and journalist Gabriel Garcia. Martinez ( (1927-2014). His book covers seven generations of a family as they wade through the inevitable repetition of history in Latin America. The magical realism woven in here with experiences of being a journalist makes this an ideal Tome to have with you on a desert island, as each page is crammed full of detail to absorb and think about for a long time to come afterwards. You may even feel the need to read it over and over to truly capture its essence.
Will it be considered a talent if I manage to put a post together, this morning….when I don’t know how to respond to today’s Daily Prompt?
I used to spend a considerable amount of time scrolling. Hours would pass, I may have had a few laughs or learned a new life hack, but little else.
Now I am enjoying Reader where I get to learn about the lives and observations of many talented folk. I have subscribed to some wonderful blogs where ‘ a way with words’ is something to behold and I look forward to discovering more.
