War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

Which topics would you like to be more informed about?

I’d like to know who’s who in the international arms trade. Those who are benefiting from all this worldwide death and destruction. Who are the disruptors?

I’d like to know how these people sleep at night, knowing they are starving to death, slaughtering innocent beings, and en-masse. They probably sleep well.

Our PM calls for a ceasefire but sends arms anyway. Wtf?

Who let these megalomaniacs out of the asylum, so they can swing their dicks around causing havoc and absolute misery?

Edit. For UK peeps especially…so, I have been looking around this morning at who has interests in what. This is a tad alarming.

Christmas unwrapped

How do you celebrate holidays?

As kids, we had nice, pleasant Christmases. As a grown-up, I’ve certainly had some fun times with friends….

Holidays got lost when I lived overseas, but it was no hardship.

Now, back in the UK, I find that I enjoy the ambience around Christmas. The effort some people go to putting up copious amount of lights on their houses. Maybe a Santa on the roof and a reindeer in the garden. It always makes me smile, and the kids must love it!

Christmas music in the shops drives some folk mad, but I don’t mind doing at all. I enjoy the food without the dead turkey on my plate. The mince pies and fruit cake, and even the brussels sprouts.

Getting remembered with a Christmas card and maybe a little note is lovely.  But that’s where it ends, because I’d prefer to be home me in my pj’s and Patch in his elf jumper eating pizza.

The worst bit? When they find out you’re spending the day alone. I really want to say ‘ stand back and please take your pity with you’. I get to thinking that their ‘concern’ is really about them? Folk who haven’t done a solitary day like that. Do they fear it? Or secretly wish they could indulge in such peace?

The day that is special to me is New Year’s  … and all that has to offer. Now that’s worthy of celebration!

Cooking up a storm? Mmm..

Write about your most epic baking or cooking fail.

Cooking disaster? WP, you would like us to relive a disaster?

Once upon a time, cooking was part of the jobs I’ve had. I managed to bluff/fluke my way through them all without much going askew.

However, it was when I wanted to do something special to help friends it went sideways. It kicked off with the person who was going to help me calling on that very  morning and saying she wasn’t coming to assist but would be a guest instead. ( Forgive and forget? Nah, not a chance!)

I’ve had a fair share of the worst days of my life, and you’ll find this one tucked in there.

But no, WP, I am not going to write down the details. That’s not very kind of you to ask. Don’t you think we may have suffered enough?

Next question….and not about food.Pleeeeze!

What a tangled web they weave

Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

Goodness me, WP! Where do I start?

There are so many many lessons I wish I had learned much earlier in life.

I really don’t know where to begin…

It would have been useful to know that all is not as it seems. And ain’t that the truth? Hidden agendas, manipulation, masks all but welded to the face of some.

Incidents/events/whatever playing out totally differently to how I perceived them and now only with that wonderful hindsight I get to see the big picture.

Maybe that’s one advantage of getting older..and there aren’t many, I’m finding.

Is it because I’m brutally honest and open that I’ve just believed everyone else was too? Taken them at their word? Believed I was seeing what was actually happening?

Maybe today’s DP can be repeated many times over ( despite me whinging to the contrary) because there appears to be a whole pile of ‘ I wish I’d knowns’ just waiting to be unleashed.

What are your favorite types of foods?

WP, we have chatted about this before. I remember telling you how I aspire to be vegan, but Halloumi and Feta have the upper hand. I also told you about loving Tamil and Middle Eastern breakfasts. So, what else?

Coriander has to be my favourite herb, and pumpkin seeds are my current snack of choice. I love piadina to eat with Zatar, oil, and salt, and Buddha bowls make me happy.

I had a feeling this post would just end up as a list, and I’m finding it tricky to be creative about it this morning. So, with my first coffee of the day drunk, it’s time to start the day. Let’s see if a long walk with my best buddy will stir some thoughts.

May your Sunday treat you kindly.

Why run when you can walk?

How often do you walk or run?

Run? Nah, not happening. Simple as.

Walking, yes, WP. Every day, come rain or shine, we’re out there braving the elements.

It’s a good job I do have my canine buddy, as I doubt I’d be out three times a day on my own. Despite being at one with nature.

Once upon a time, I’d be pounding the streets of London with my perfect shopping pal. Oh yes, we did some walking back then. But those days are over.. Well, let’s never say never.

Up the garden path…

Do you see yourself as a leader?

Seriously, WP! Do you not take any notice of anything I ever write about? I show up every day and do the DP, and you ask this.

Patch, my loyal companion is head of the household. For arguments sake, I just go along with what Himself wants to do next.

Luckily, after his first morning walk and a hearty breakfast, he likes a good nap, leaving me to my own devices for a couple of hours. Hence, I get to put pen to  paper and check out what my fellow bloggers are up to.

Patrol Leader of The Robins at Girl Guides in Birmingham, moons ago. I told you before, I loved it until they modernised the uniform and then everything changed. I felt I could not perform wearing such an underwhelming outfit of a Friday night. So that was that.

As for the rest of my life, I shall go along with what many of the guys are saying  here, and that is I believe I have led by example in some roles, and I enjoyed that. Showing someone the ropes was fun.
