Who are your favorite people to be around?
5148 miles separate me from two ladies who are very special in my life.
One a devout Catholic from Bangalore, the other a devout Muslim from Jordan. When I spent years in their company I’d find myself as the would-be Buddhist, nestled between them.
I returned to the UK from Southern India in October 2005 and have only seen these wonderful souls once since then, but our connection is strong.
These ladies have a faith I admire, respect and a little envious of really, as it makes them incredibly strong and unconditionally kind.

Distance really thinks it’s some big deal, tossing in thousands of miles like it’s hosting the Olympics of separation. But friendship? It’s the rebel that skips over all that, no visa required. There’s something wildly poetic about how we envy the solid faith of others while wobbling on our own life ladders—like watching someone ride a unicycle flawlessly while you trip over flat ground. And isn’t it strange how the people who shape us the most are often the ones we rarely see? It’s as if life hands out invisible threads, tying us to souls far away, just to remind us that meaning isn’t always found in the people sitting next to us, but in those who live rent-free in our thoughts.
